Jesus, in Luke’s Gospel, becomes the new Moses, the new Torah, and the new Tabernacle of God’s indwelling presence. The Transfiguration experience on that mountain was a recapitulation of Mount Sinai. We are forced to reinterpret the Old Testament story of the Exodus in the new Light of Christ, who faced his own ‘exodus’ on Calvary. And our lives too must be reinterpreted in light of the Transfigured Christ.
